I met Noah and Erika at a wedding I photographed on the 1st of January. They contacted me shortly after and asked me to photograph their summer wedding. This couple was so fun to work with. They love the mountains, so we knew their engagement photos should be taken there. We decided Nederland would be a perfect location. We found The Carousel Of Happiness which is in the center of town. It is an indoor carousal that is open year round. The entire thing was carved by one man, by hand. We had fun converting back to childhood and riding the horse and bull, complete with seat belts. Can there be anything more fun than riding a hand made carousel in the mountains? It was the perfect way to warm up this couples session.
Right next door are some old train cars that were converted to a small cafe. With permission we were allowed to shoot inside as well as around their porch. I was obsessed with the red’s that matched Erika’s dress and all the warm wood tones and that very large rooster sign. Erika and Noah fell right together and just enjoyed being with each other. If you ever head to the carousel and cafe make sure to get a cup of their slushie lemonade, its to die for!
We then headed out of town up to where a few off roading trails begin. They have some old stone buildings there and we had fun playing around them, strolling along the dirt roads and dancing in the wind. The weather was perfect, even with the little bits of snow that chose to linger.
Our last stop was back into town at the lake. The sun was setting and made for such a warm glow. I loved seeing Erika and Noah open up to each other, forget about the camera and just enjoy their time. Noah is in Pre Med school, so this was the first time in a while they have had time to just be with and enjoy each other. Lots of tight embraces, dances, kisses and stolen glances filled this fun and romantic session. Please enjoy scrolling through their photos!
